Underwater Recovery and Salvage
Sunken Vehicle and Underwater Object Recovery
Recovery techniques depend upon the type and size of the object.
-Smaller objects, such as a coin or camera, can simply be carried up by the diver.
-Medium sized objects are normally recovered using a lift bag.
-Significantly larger objects usually require specialized commercial lifting equipment, either a winch attached to a boat or platform. This is common with vehicle recovery, and inflate sunken vessels.
Marine salvage is the process of recovering a ship, its cargo, or other property after a shipwreck or other maritime casualty. Salvage may encompass towing, re-floating a sunken or grounded vessel, or patching or repairing a ship.
Wreck Removal
Wreck removal focuses on the removal of hazardous or unsightly wrecks that have little or no salvage value. Because the objectives here are not to save the vessel, the wrecks are usually refloated or removed.
Clearance Salvage
Clearance salvage is the coordinated removal or salvage of numerous vessels in a harbor or waterway.
